141 a Find A Grave reference lists him as “Thomas Tunis Muncy” but can’t find any verification that his first name was Thomas. This Find a Grave memorial does not provide cemetery info and is only a memorial — no corroboration or references. Likely not accurate.

All references found name him as Tunis Muncy.
there are differences on death date as to if 1858 or 1859, but Virginia Deaths & Burials Index lists 1859 date.

142 A license was issued and not returned to Edward "Moncy" and Isabella Niceley was issued 15 February 1878 in Claiborne County; possibly, an engagement fell apart, and this may be the same Isabella who married Edward's brother Samuel. Malissa is probably the 10-year-old with Charles Brown in Hancock County in 1870 and born ca. June 1860 in Hancock County.

No record of the couple has been found beyond 1880; they may have died before 1900, but of course far more research is necessary to prove that. They could be the parents of Della Munsey who married Jeremiah Munsey, Jr., but such is nothing but pure speculation.

149 A. J. MUNCY, 47, longtime resident of the MK community, passed away October 2, 1953 at the Shattuck Hospital after an illness of less than a week.

Mr. MUNCY, who moved to a farm near Shattuck a few months ago, became ill suddenly Saturday night and was rushed to the Shattuck Hospital. There it was found he had an ulcer which had eaten into a blood vessel in the abdominal cavity causing internal bleeding. Six pints of blood were used in transfusion in a vain attempt to save his life.

Alonzo Jackson MUNCY, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Wesley MUNCY, was born in Arkansas on February 18, 1906. He came to Hemphill County 28 years ago from Oklahoma and had made his home in the MK community until moving to Shattuck this Spring. He was married to Lily Mae GILBERT, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. E. M. GILBERT of MK, on December 3, 1926.

Mr. GILBERT was a good neighbor and friend. He was a member of the Church of Christ of Canadian.

Survivors include his wife and two children, Mrs. Dan (Mary) TUCKER of Amarillo, and Elbert Wesley (Sonny) MUNCY of Barstow, California; three sisters, Mrs. Harold SKAGGS and Mrs. Dan WILLIAMS of Sherman, Texas, and Mrs. E. V. HEATHCOCK of Illinois; one brother, Gus MUNCY of Indiana, Oklahoma; five grandchildren and a host of friends.

Funeral services were held here at the Church of Christ with M.C. Jackson, minister of the Church of Christ at Higgins and Clarence Tillie, minister of the local church, officiating.

Interment was made in the Canadian Cemetery under the direction of the Stickley Funeral Home.
